From the above 'Seal ', it's evident that the Empire covered the earth.
Trading was how the Empire grew and it was in this area that Britain dominated the globe.
Peninsular and Oriental Steamship Navigation Company, the flag bearer of Britain connected all major ports across the world bringing in the raw materials and and transporting finished goods!
Represented in the 4 quarters are;
India - with Elephants
China - with the Pagoda
Egypt - with the Pyramids
Rest of the World - Britannia,
And on the shield in the middle of the seal:
On the top - Rising Sun
Top side - Lions for Britain
Left side - Kangaroo for Australia
Bottom side - Dragon for China
Right side - Elephants for India
Interestingly, Britannia was Minerva, the Roman goddess of warfare and water, complete with helmet, spear and shield. Adopted to represent Britain in all it's endeavours!
Hence, the Sun 'never' set on the British Empire!!
