An example of a Watermark
This is a letter written by Lord Napier, who was the Governor of Madras and later on the Governor-general of East India Company
This letter written in 1879, was on a paper made by A Pirie and Sons, 1877
In those days, almost all paper was Watermarked with the name of the manufacturer and the year of production.
